I was talking with my friend Linda the other day, lamenting how I need to go to the J and buy some iron cleaner. She told me she learned a tip, where you can use a Magic Eraser! I love Magic Eraser. As soon as I got off the phone, I tried it. Brilliant! I heated up the iron, then got the magic eraser damp. I put the magic eraser on the ironing board, and ironed right over it (the magic eraser gets hot fast, so careful with it.) I didn't take a before, but this an after.
All shiney and clean!
Then, I thought I'd really put it to the test with my 12 year old, totally gunked up Rowenta.
Here's the before:
And here's the after:
Not perfect, but a heck of a lot better! I think if I spent a little more time, I could work out those stubborn spots. Give it a try!
Hope you have a great weekend!

I definitely will! I love Magic Erasers and was just thinking myself the other day that I need to clean my iron. Mine isn't nearly as bad as yours was but still I don't want any nasty stuff migrating onto my fabric. Thanks for sharing.
I have also used a scentless dryer sheet to remove the heat and bond gunk from my iron. Heat the iron, run over the dryer sheet a few times, then run over a scrap piece of fabric and you are ready to go. If you used the scented kind then it will smell very strongly everytime you iron with it.
Thanks for sharing, I always hated using the tube of Iron Cleaner, as it would get stuck in the "steam holes"
That is a fantastic tip, thanks!
Very clever! Thanks for sharing!!!! I'll have to try that!
Nice to have such brilliant friends :)
I have heard of this before and I need to do it! Thanks for the reminder:)
off to try it now!
I will be trying this tomorrow! Thank you for posting it!
